We’ve been planning this for months, and finally got around to working on it a few days ago, and now it’s finally up.  Himeko Sutori now has zombies, known as “corpse puppets” in-game.  They have new sprite sheets, new portraits, a new character class, and some new reaction abilities that add lots of new strategic options to the game.

Some players had been annoyed at how quickly their healers were getting killed by rogues, wolf skirmishers, and other units that attack the lowest-hp target.  I didn’t want to just nerf that ability, so I thought up some possible counters to it.  What would happen if you could bring some extra cannon-fodder to the fight?  And what if you could replace it quickly and cheaply?  And what if you gave it a cool special ability that makes it dangerous to kill?

Enter the Corpse Puppet, a weak character that you can add to the party for just the cost of a fresh body, a few candles, and a moment at the necromancy altar.  It can learn two unique abilities:  necrotic splash, when attacked; and necrotic explosion, when killed.

We had also gotten to the point in the plot where we needed to make the House of Life a little more significant.  And this was a good excuse to finally add a new undead class.

I think it’s going to be fun for the players to try.  I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with it.
